The GentleSpray Citronella Anti-Bark Collar is a collar which detects your dog or puppy’s bark. African Clawed Frog Mating

African Clawed Frogs Mating

The picture above shows two albino African clawed frogs engaging in the mating embrace or amplexus. While this sometimes results in the female releasing eggs, it doesn’t always. In fact, males will sometimes embrace other males and females will grab females. The information provided below discusses the mating process of African clawed frogs.

Breeding Amplexus

Two mating ACFs

In order to breed ACFs, you’ll need a male and a female. With a male and female in your aquarium, you’ll want to configure your tank appropriate to encourage the frogs to mate. The aquarium’s water should be around room temperature. Performing a small water change can also help encourage the male and female to begin the breeding process. Also remember to feed your frogs healthy nutritious foods such as frozen bloodworms.

Once the male is ready to begin mating, he’ll call out to the female. If the female ACF is ready to breed, she’ll answer with a similar call. The call sounds like a slight clicking noise and can be easy to miss. After the two have acknowledge their eagerness to breed, the male will grab the female from behind. The picture above shows the embrace, which is also referred to as the amplexus. The male will squeeze the female which results in the female releasing eggs. The eggs are then fertilized outside of the female’s body.

Stopping Dog’s Bleeding Nail

Cutting your dog or puppy’s nails can be a very trying experience for both you and your pet. Many puppies will not allow their nails to be cut easily and will result to fighting back when you whip out the nail clippers. This can lead to problems when actually clipping the nails. The biggest problem results in cutting the dog’s name too short causing the puppy to experience pain and bleeding from the nail. This occurs because the quick, or blood vessel, of the nail has been damaged. Cutting dark nails makes it more difficult to determine the beginning and ending of the quick which can lead to more accidents. Most of the time, treating this type of accident is simple and can be performed at home with speciality products or even household products. Below, we’ll discuss the best way to stop a dog’s nail from bleeding.

Using Styptic Powders or Spray: Pet stores, both online and offline, will most likely carry a product such as styptic powders or sprays which help stop the puppy’s nail from bleeding. Kwik-Stop is an excellent product, which is available in powder and spray, that helps stop bleeding in dogs and puppies. Kwik-Stop can be used to stop bleeding from various types of cuts including damaged nails. Kwik-Stop can also be used on cats and birds. This is quiet possibly the best styptic product to use on your pet to stop bleeding quickly.

Tetra Reptotreat Review

Reptotreat Bloodworms

Tetra Reptotreat

Tetra ReptoTreat is a fish food that consists of bloodworms. The whole bloodworms are maintained in a nutrient fortified gel. Each box contains a total of sixteen individual packets which contain a good amount of bloodworms. It is possible to use one packet to feed several fish or frogs at once. Although I have not conducted experiments, I’d assume anything that eats bloodworms would eat ReptoTreat. I mainly fed the delica bloodworms to african dwarf frogs and african clawed frogs. Below, I will discuss the pros and cons of Tetra’s ReptoTreat fish food.

ReptoTreat Pros: ReptoTreat is an excellent alternative to frozen and freeze dried bloodworms. The major advantage of Reptotreat compared to freeze dried foods is that fact that these bloodworms will sink to the bottom of your aquarium. This is perfect for feeding clawed frogs, dwarf frogs and bottom dwelling fish. African dwarf frogs can be extremely pick when it comes to eat. Many people experience periods of starvation due to picky appetites. Many will not eat sinking pellets and other foods for dwarf frogs. From my experiences, my african dwarf frogs were more than willing to eat Tetra’s ReptoTreat. Anyone unable to find frozen foods can conveniently substitute these bloodworms into their dwarf frog’s diet. The packets are convenient and perfectly protect the bloodworms from exposure, keeping them fresh and ready to eat.

Dart Frog Seizures

Poison dart frogs are relatively delicate creatures that thrive in tropical environments and require specific climates and diets. Failing to ensure your poison dart frog has these necessary conditions can cause your dart frog to have a seizure. So what will it look like when my frog has a seizure? Well, from my experiences, the frog will drop to the ground, flatten out and beginning shivering. After a few moments, the frog will generally return to normal and recover full movement to its body and legs. This can be a very traumatic event, especially if you’ve never encountered such behavior before. However, you should not overreact. Using the guide below, we’ll discuss the reasons dart frogs have seizures and ways to prevent them from happening.

Poison dart frogs can have seizures for a number of reasons. There may be something wrong with the frog’s health that is causing the animal to experience seizures. If this is the case, you’ll need to take the frog to the vet as soon as possible. Other reasons can be fixed. For example, the terrarium’s conditions may be inappropriate for dart frogs. It could be too hot or cold or not humid enough inside your terrarium. These tropical frogs should be housed in terrariums with day time temperatures begin seventy and eighty degrees. Never allow your terrarium to heat up over eighty degrees. Humidity is crucial. Your animals need the humidity to remain above eighty percent. If possible, keep the humidity up to one hundred. As long as the humidity remains above eighty, the frog should be fine.

Bearded Dragon Essentials

Before purchasing a bearded dragon, you should first acquire everything needed to properly house and maintain the health of a bearded dragon. It is foolish to believe a bearded dragon can survive without proper nutrition and an adequate environment. This guide will discuss the various items and foods required to keep a bearded dragon happy and healthy.

Bearded Dragons: What you need?

Terrarium/Cage – While it is true that juvenile bearded dragons can live in much smaller terrariums, adults require much more space. Unless you want to start with a smaller terrarium and upgrade to a bigger one, then you should start with a larger terrarium from the beginning. It is highly recommended that each bearded dragon has at least a forty gallon terrarium or cage. This will give the dragon enough room all throughout its life from youth to adulthood. Your terrarium will most likely be your most expensive purchase. You may be able to search the web for terrariums to find discounts.

Zoo Med Reptile Lamp Stand Review

Zoo Med Reptile Lamp Stand

Reptile Lamp Stand by Zoo Med

Reptile owners know the importance of properly installing heating lamps. Hang them too high and the tank might be too cold. Hang them too low and you’re reptile may be too hot. Hanging hooks from your ceiling can damage your property while simply sitting the heating lamp on top of the cage may melt the cage’s screen. The solution? The Zoo Med Reptile Lamp Stand is an excellent product that can solve all of these problems for a cheap price. We’ll take a closer look at the Zoo Med Lamp Stand below.

Setup Difficulty: Setting up the lamp stand couldn’t be anymore simply. Lift your terrarium or cage and slide the bottom of the lamp stand underneath. Place the middle portion into the designated slot and tighten it in place with the simple screw. Repeat the process with the top hook and you’re all set. Couldn’t get any easier.

Design: The Zoo Med Reptile Lamp Stand is pleasant on the eyes and can hidden somewhat behind the tank or terrarium. Hooks located on the top and side of the product make it easier to conceal your lamp’s power cord improving the overall look of your critter’s cage.

Bearded Dragon Hibernation

Have you noticed strange behaviors from your bearded dragon? Is he or she lethargic? Perhaps a loss of energy or appetite? Well, you should not worry. During this time of the year, it is very common for bearded dragons to go into hibernation or brumation. While a bearded dragon is brumating, the animal will exhibit a variety of strange behaviors. This guide will discuss the signs and symptoms which could confirm your bearded dragon is experiencing brumation.

While hibernating, bearded dragons will lose their appetite. This doesn’t mean that you should stop feeding your dragon’s food but you should avoid live foods. Continue feeding the bearded dragon his or her greens/vegetables. Bearded Dragons can lose a significant amount of weight while hibernating.

The bearded dragon will also begin hiding a lot and digging more frequently. This is normal and is extremely common during hibernation.

Many people will first think their animal is sick while hibernating because it’ll lay around and want to sleep all day. This is also very normal while the bearded dragon is brumating. Do not fear.

Best Dog Gates

Puppies and dogs are much easier to care for when contained safely in a room or area. Puppies can and will chew furniture, urinate on carpet and quite frankly run your house, if you let them. Keeping your dogs enclosed in a general area makes it much easier to prevent damage, messes and improve their behavior. With that said, there are a number of ways to contain a puppy.

For starters, you can teach your puppy to spend time in a crate. Prepare for a lot of whimpering and crying at first, but eventually the puppy will become comfortable in the crate and enjoy spending time inside.

You can also use a playpen to keep your puppies in place. The playpen will give the animal enough room to move around, while ensuring that he or she doesn’t wonder too far.

Video: Poison Dart Frogs Eating

The video shows poison dart frogs or more specifically Dendrobates tinctorius eating fruit flies. Although they’ll eat a variety of feeder insects, I find it easier and more convenient to feed them fruit flies because they are easy to culture and keep. Although it is difficult to see the fruit flies, they run around the ground like ants and cannot fly. Will upload a video with better lighting in the days to come.
